Which sect of Islam do you belong to?
We are adherents to mainstream orthodox Islam (Sunni Islam) with a focus on the Hanafi School of law in particular due to it being most widespread. Our team and volunteers may have their own beliefs and practices within Sunni Islam but our policy is one of complete non-partisanship. Any people from the Muslim community that may work with us or for us do not necessarily reflect our views as an organisation.
What if I can't afford to pay for a course?
At Marifah Essentials, we believe that education should be free and accessible to all. However, this creates an impossible and unsustainable model for us at the time being and we encourage you to donate to the institute to help us achieve this ideal. That said, concessions will be made for those who are genuinely struggling.
Will I receive a certificate upon course completion?
Certificates and licences (ijazat) to teach are dependent upon the teacher and type of course attended. Upon successful attendance and examination results, the student will usually receive a certificate.
What if I miss a lesson?
Lessons will be made available online for a short space of time (normally a week) to enable students to keep up with the class.
